Why?
Plato, the Greek philosopher once wrote: Necessity is the mother of invention. Can’t really argue with that, can you? It’s exactly the story behind this blog.
A great friend of mine, and a fellow DJ, recently became a father. I sincerely wish him and his family all the best. Having said that, obviously, he doesn’t get to spend as much time online as he used to. As a result, exchanging links and ideas became challenging. I thought we needed a way of doing it in more offline manner and a blog seemed like a good solution.
Around the same time, I bumped into a great blog called Wire To The Ear, run by a musician/performer/producer/label owner Oliver Chesler AKA The Horririst. His music is not exactly my cup of tea, but he’s definitely a talented producer and a great (professional) blogger. His site is a great source of information and is a great an inspiration for me. As I’ll stick to the same area of interest (music and music production), you may think that I intend to copy the man’s work. I certainly do not! Bare in mind, that I’m so much less experienced as a producer and I’m into a different style of music so even though the topics may be similar I’m sure I’ll offer a different perspective.
What?
So what’s this about? I called it HiRec, which stands for HIghly RECommended. I hope post recommendations about:
- music releases (current, upcoming and some forgotten classics),
- artists (producers, studio engineers, DJs, singers),
- music production related resources on the web (articles, videos, forums, tutorials, tools),
- event promotion related resources,
- my own stuff (a little self-promotion to inform about my gigs, mixes and other activities).
The above areas of interest my seem wide, so to narrow it down I’ll say that I’m very much into electronic music (especially deep house stuff).
Who?
That’s the least interesting and important part of this message, but if you insist on knowing, check out the About Me section of this blog.
How?
I’ll try to keep things categorized and as easy to navigate as much as possible. Should I fail in some manner, do not hesitate to post comments or contact me in any other way. In fact, please comment about everything related. I’m looking forward to receiving any kind of feedback (positive and negative), exchanging ideas and opinions.
